Primary Sources
While working on this project, I used the soldiers letter as a primary source. It was useful because it showed the severity of life in the war. I believe that this letter is reliable because it describes everything that I've learned about in the past. It talked about the harsh conditions and how lonely he was. All of this is beyond true, and credible. I used this source to find out just how bad life really was for soldiers in the war. It gives the reader a personal connection into the world of a Civil War soldier.
Secondary Sources
I primarily used the Americans History textbook while working on this project. I used this source because it is the textbook that many teachers use to teach their students. It is full with facts, that are true. I know it is all reliable because this information has been checked by many historians who would say that this information is valid.
C-S-E Paragraph
"Turner had religious fantasies in which the Holy Spirit seemed to speak to him as it had to the prophets of old. 'Seek ye the kingdom of Heaven,' the Spirit told him, 'and all things shall be added unto you.'" (p. 222)
Without the Holy Spirit enhancing Turner's thoughts, the ways of slavery would have never been overthrown. Turner had complete faith in God, and therefore would do anything he believed that was being said to him. Turner was given signs from God to show that the evil of slavery needed to be demolished. He was convinced that God was trying to send him signs to warn him of the upcoming events. When Turner disappeared, he could have stayed gone. Instead, at God's command, he came back willingly to save his people. God had given Turner visions of a war that would soon come. Turner was certain that Judgement Day was arriving, so he set a plan to save the slaves. While Turner could have gone about this doings in a different way, he still did what was best for his people at the time.
